Demons, Witches, and the OccultConslusion |
|
The existence of an evil, supernatural realm, led by Satan and supported by his legions of demons, is a reality Satan's devices are many, and his methods are as varied as his devices. Fortunately, there is authority, power, and refuge to be found in the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. If you have not decided to follow Jesus Christ, you can do so now. The Bible says, "[Satan] will completely fool those who are on their way to hell because they have said 'no' to the Truth; they have refused to believe it and love it, and let it save them" (2 Thess. 2: 10, TLB). To say 'yes' to Christ-the Truth-pray and ask Him to take over your life. God's power, being greater than Satan's, will conquer the evil that has surrounded you and been a part of your behavior. Christ will then take up residence in your life. If you are already a Christian, be warned: do not become preoccupied with the occult. Preoccupation with Satan's methods is not the best means of approaching our foe, our enemy, the accuser of the brethren. However, this does not mean we are to do nothing. Rather, we are exhorted in three major areas. First, we are called to understand-understand that Satan has already been defeated. Christ's death and resurrection sealed Satan's fate and destruction. That fact becomes reality for those who trust in Christ. Second, we are called to know-know Satan's strategy. Not to know all his methods, but rather his means of operation. This includes his being disguised as an angel of fight. Satan's modus operandi, aside from a direct assault of lies, also includes the more subtle and often used art of deception. He seeks to lure through the things of the world and the temptations of the flesh. Satan's desire is to replace God's plan with his counterfeit, just as he attempted to do in the Garden of Eden. Third, besides having a good defense of knowing our position in Christ and recognizing Satan's strategy, we must be on the offensive in what we do. This means knowing God and making Him known. When we get closer to our Lord and share the gospel with others, it pierces Satan as with a knife-the Lord uses us to advance His Kingdom and bring Satan's domain to ruin. For our mastery over Satan is not in our power, but in God's power and authority.
