The Case of the Innocent MagpieForward |
|
The Yazzie family was sitting in the dining room at the lodge having dinner the following night. "I'm so glad you didn't have anything to do with taking that diamond ring, Louis. You can ask Angus," Mrs. McDonald said. "I cried myself to sleep every night since it happened. And especially when I accused you and you had nothing to do with it. "We're coming back here next. year," she announced, and I'm going to have you guide for me again. The next time you won't be accused of anything." "My dear, the chances are that Louis won't be here next year." "That's right. I'd forgotten." "I don't suppose you've had a chance to tell your family what you're going to be doing for the next couple of years. Right, Frank?" He nodded. "Why don't you tell them?" "Mr. McDonald's publishing company is going to be doing a series of books on various aboriginal tribes. We'll be doing a lot of traveling to various reserves and locations where I'll be taking a lot of pictures. Then we'll come home and I'll paint them." "Frank!" Rita exclaimed. "That sounds exciting." “And the best part of it is,” Louis put in, “You’re going to be with us, Mom!” |
