The book which you hold in your hand could well be one of the most important books you will ever read. In fact, it could change your life.

Have you had a desire in your heart to introduce your loved ones, your neighbors, friends and associates, even strangers, to the Lord Jesus Christ? But have the barriers of fear and guilt intimidated you and prevented you from being that witness you long to be? If so, this book will provide the key that can unlock the door to the greatest adventure of your life, sharing the Lord Jesus Christ with others.

It all began when God the Father demonstrated His love for us when He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

God the Son so loved the world that while we were yet sinners, He died for us.

The apostle Paul was so constrained by that love that he told everyone who would listen about Christ (Colossians 1:28).

Through the centuries, God has chosen multitudes of men and women to be His ambassadors, filled them with His Holy Spirit, and anointed them to proclaim the most joyful news ever announced. There is no greater privilege.

During the last thirty years I have asked two vital, all-important questions of Christians all over the world. The first is, "What is the greatest thing that has ever happened to you in all of your life?" I have asked it of rich and poor, old and young, famous and not so famous. The answer has always been the same: "Knowing Jesus Christ as my Savior and my Lord is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me."

The second question logically follows: "If knowing Jesus Christ personally is the greatest thing that can happen to any person, what is the greatest thing the Christian can do for a nonbeliever?" Obviously, the answer is to help the nonbeliever come to know Jesus Christ personally. Why? Because, as the Scripture clearly teaches, "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?" (Mark 8:36). God is holy and man is sinful, and there is a great chasm, a gulf, that separates us. No matter how hard man may try, he can never bridge that gulf thru his own self-efforts, but there is good news. Jesus Christ can bridge the gulf. In fact, He is the only one who can, for His claim is true: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me" (John 14:6). And as we are reminded, "There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

Many marvelous things happen to us when we receive Christ. We become children of God (John 1:12); our sins are forgiven (Ephesians 1:7); we become new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17); and we have peace with God (Romans 5:1). He gives us His joy and His love. He directs our steps as we walk in faith and obedience so that our lives are filled with meaning and purpose. He gives us power to live holy, fruitful lives for His glory. And finally (though He does a thousand other things and more for us), He gives us the assurance of salvation (1 John 5:11-13).

How could anyone say no to such blessings and benefits? It is my personal conviction that no open, honest, intelligent, inquiring person will want to say no when Jesus Christ is presented as Savior and Lord if the person is approached in a loving, gracious, knowledgeable, Spirit-filled way. For many years, I have observed and experienced the truth of this invitation from the Lord Jesus: "Follow Me and I will make you to become fishers of men. " It is our responsibility to follow Jesus – it  is His responsibility to make us fishers of men. Since He came to "seek and to save the lost," and since He lives within every believer in all His resurrection love, power, wisdom and grace, does it not make sense that a good percentage of the nonbelievers would want to respond to Him? He is so loving, so attractive, so appealing, so convincing.

Yet, millions of surveys which we have helped to take around the world indicate that approximately 98 percent of the Christians do not regularly introduce others to the Savior. One must ask the question, "Why?" And to those who have had the privilege of training Christian workers, the answer is obvious: The average Christian does not understand the ministry of the Holy Spirit in his life nor how to share in an effective, fruitful way the love and forgiveness of God revealed in Jesus Christ. It is to meet that need that Tell It Often, Tell It Well was written. If you feel that need personally, this book has vast potential to revolutionize your life and your witness for our Savior.

Mark McCloskey, the author of this book, has a brilliant, logical, inquiring, creative mind. These qualities led him, as a student on the university campus, to investigate the claims of Christ. From the very beginning, he realized that there was no decision he would ever make that would compare with the decision to come to know Christ personally. Then, as he grew and matured in his faith, he began to win and disciple other students to Christ, and for years he has  continued a ministry of evangelism and discipleship that has influenced the lives of many thousands. His disciples are now serving Jesus Christ around the world.

In this outstanding book, Mark presents a well-reasoned, biblically based, and philosophically unassailable rationale for sowing the seed of the gospel broadly and for initiative-taking evangelism. But it also looks beyond that to every-member mobilization for evangelistic outreach through churches. His heart, burning for the salvation of all lost men, women and children, has kept Mark motivated during the four years it took to write, rewrite, and polish the message in this book. I predict that through the influence of Tell It Often, Tell It Well, tens of thousands, and quite possibly millions, will become more effective, fruitful witnesses for the Savior.

Since the inception of Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951, this ministry has been committed to helping fulfill the Great Commission. Through the strategy of spiritual multiplication made possible through well-written literature and effective training, we are seeking to enable generations yet unborn to help reach their own generations for Christ, as well. This book articulates our mission, our message and our methods in attempting to proclaim the good news of our Savior and Lord to all men throughout the world. We commend it to you with the prayer that you will not only read it and be inspired and even changed because of its message, but will pass on the good news to others who will also benefit.
