Christians are accused of using their faith as an escape from life's pressures. Turn the tables by asking your hearer: (a) Are you running away from the facts of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ-solid facts of history, which cannot be avoided and must be explained somehow? Their obvious meaning has revolutionary consequences today. (b) Are you running away from facing man's deepest problems: his self -centeredness and guilt before God? In fact, you may be avoiding facing your own deepest need. (c) Are you running away from life's biggest questions: Who am I What is truth? What is the purpose of my life? What is worth living for? (d) Are you running away from reality by trying to satisfy the hunger of your soul with the candyfloss of "living it up", girl-friends, cars, records, drink, sex, etc.? The non-Christian is the escapist by refusing to look life (and death) straight in the eye. Has he got the courage to face the facts?
